Here is a table of all the TG zebrafish insuline fluorescent proteins:
| Transgene | Description |
|---|---|
| Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-GFP) | This transgene includes the green fluorescent protein (GFP) coding region inserted into the C-peptide of proinsulin, allowing us to visualize expression of the transgene in vivo, and to use circulating GFP as an indicator of human insulin release. |
| Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-mCherry) | This transgene is similar to Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-GFP), but it uses the red fluorescent protein mCherry instead of GFP. |
| Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-DsRed2) | This transgene is similar to Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-GFP), but it uses the red fluorescent protein DsRed2 instead of GFP. |
| Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-tdTomato) | This transgene is similar to Tg(-1.0ins:Hsa.INS-GFP), but it uses the red fluorescent protein tdTomato instead of GFP. |
These transgenes have been used to study the development and function of the zebrafish pancreas, as well as the effects of diabetes on the zebrafish.
